Editorial:
Our graphic comes from a 'mash-up' of the front cover and first page from Chapter 1 of a publication (2005) of the Commission for Africa (CFA). Yet we are disambiguating a little at this point, because if you look at the section highlighted in green at the top rightmost area on that right page, - an Igbo proverb has been quoted (?) - That's not an Igbo proverb at all. It doesn't even look like Igbo language, unless of course the authors' know something we don't. (Sorry to make you squint).
The world must know by now that Igbos love their proverbs, but when other interests start to misquote or misrepresent the language, then it is definitely time to 'talk' back or rewrite stuff.
The title on the cover page 'Our common interest' and the the title on that first page 'The Case for Action' are all enlisted in our efforts at disambiguation. It might be that the publishers of the CFA, know of an Igbo people elsewhere who speak and write in the manner used in the highlighted proverb (Hence the query in our own blog post title - How many Igbos?).
And here's what our disambiguation means. Semantically, if you are Igbo, and you can read and write, then the time is now! Seize the space! Add your dots,dashes,diacritics and disambiguate a little. All over the world!
